In 1948 there was a polio outbreak and so the electrical department on Mufulira Mine decided to hold a football match to raise funds for the polio victims. 

Here is a photo of one of the teams. I can only put names to three of the guys: Front row 3rd from left is Pat Partridge, 5th from left is Norman Sayer and the "lass" with the long plait on the right is Basil Ross !!
