To Whom It
May
Concern,
My name is
Pat Beech
and I was
married to
Bumpy/Albert
Beech.
Sadly
Bumpy
passed
away 15
months
ago.
During
some
research I
was
conducting
I came
across
your
website
and was
wondering
if I could
ask you a
big favour.
Bumpy
passed
away from
malignant
asbestoses
and I am
desperately
trying to
get hold
of as many
people as
I can who
worked
with him
at the
Mufulira
Mine and
Mufulira
Municipality.
Is there
at all a
possibility
that you
can post a
message on
your
website
asking
anyone who
knew my
husband to
please
contact me
by return
email or
on UK
07746069269.
Thank you
so very
much and I
look
forward to
hearing
from you.
Regards
Pat Beech

passing of 2
old Mufulirans
Good day
It is with
great sadness
that I want to
inform you of
the passing of
Leon
Roelof
Schoeman, on
the 12th of
May 2007,
after a short
sickbed. He
lived at
J111,
Mufulira,
Northen
Rhodesia from
1948 to 1963.
He was the son
of Martie
and Willie
Schoeman (who
worked on the
housing
maintenance at
Muf Mine).
Leon was a
close friend
of Eddie
Wakefield and
Henry
Vermeulen.
Leon was
schooled at
Muf and was
stationed at
Llewelyn
Barracks in
Bulawayo for
military
training. He
did his
electrical
apprenticeship
at Muf Mine
and
then relocated
to Cape Town.
The
attached photo
of Leon was
taken in 1962
in Cape Town
(click pic for
slightly
larger image).
He spend his
final years in
Westonaria in
Gauteng and
was laid to
rest in
Westonaria.
His mother,
Martie
Schoeman,
passed away on
the 14th of
July 2007.
Martie
spend her
final years in
an old age
home in
Randfontein,
Gauteng; where
she
was laid to
rest.
We would like
to know the
whereabouts of
Eddie
Wakefield.
